Candeo family, meet Hannah Rees!
STAFF ROLE: Salt Resident
FAVORITE THINGS: I love playing ultimate frisbee, speaking in Spanish, talking to people about traveling, looking at pictures on my camera roll, running, and spending quality time with my family and friends! Other little things: my favorite book is probably "Rembrandt is in the Wind" by Russ Ramsey, I listen to NEEDTOBREATHE more than any other music artist, and picking wildflowers is my favorite restful activity.
HOMETOWN: Washington, IA
I grew up in a christian home, learned a lot about Jesus and watched my parents sacrifice a lot to follow where He called them.
When I was 16, I chose to follow Him with my whole life after the Holy Spriti pierced my heart with the reality of His sacrificial life, death, and resurrection. Since then, He has grown my delight in Him through reading His word, christian community, and being challenged at Salt company! God has also grown my heart in boldness to speak of His gospel through Salt leadership, a summer trip to Kenya, and the many opportunities to speak of his name to classmates and dear friends at UNI. I love talking about Jesus with believers and non-believers alike; it only deepens my love for Him more!!
HOW HAS YOUR PREVIOUS MINISTRY EXPERIENCES PREPARED YOU FOR THIS ROLE?
The two ministry experiences that prepared me for this role were probably being given some responsibilities in high school to lead bible studies or youth group nights- they challenged me to keep the gospel as the main thing, and to know it well. Also, leading my Summer team to Kenya was influential in deepening my love for the nations and teaching me to depend on the Lord in my weaknesses.
As you step into your staff position, what has you excited?
Talking about Jesus! Talking and encouraging other students to talk about Jesus! And also, working with the Candeo and Salt staff. I get to be around and learn from them and their walks with the Lord. I can't think of many cooler things than that.
