Candeo family, meet Becca Maynard!
STAFF ROLE: Youth Ministry
FAVORITE THINGS: I really like crafting, baking, reading and any reason to be out in nature. My husband, Rick, and I have a pet cat named Dolly Parton.
HOMETOWN: Waverly, IA
I was a sophomore in high school when I truly felt the weight of my sin and started to understand who God is and what He has done for me.
I’m so thankful that God placed me in a family and community that exposed me to the truth of the Gospel from a young age. Some of the people who had the biggest impact on how I learned to trust God, were faithful peers that modeled what it looked to live boldly for Christ in the public school setting. Knowing that God moved in my life as a high school student, I have loved being involved with students and getting to walk alongside them as they grown in their faith in God.
HOW HAS YOUR PREVIOUS MINISTRY EXPERIENCES PREPARED YOU FOR THIS ROLE?
In college I was involved with The Navigators at ISU where I learned more about how to share my faith and help others grow as believers. I continued learning about ministry and youth through working four summers at a Christian summer camp in eastern Iowa. I also volunteered with 5 Fourteen & Candeo Youth on and off since 2018. I taught 7-12th grade Family and Consumer Sciences in a few different local schools as well. Through all these experiences I realized I love getting to talk about God with middle and high school students!"
As you step into your staff position, what has you excited?
I think teenagers can get a bad wrap, but they are my favorite people!! I’m excited to encourage them as they become young adults to cling to God and their faith and to find joy and freedom in Him!
